One in four millennials moved to a different city in 2022, many for work or cost of living concerns. Nearly 17,300 millennials relocated to Cambridge in 2022, bringing the total percentage of millennials to 38% of the total population. Seattle and Sunnyvale, California, also saw comparable moves, as millennials who moved in 2022 made up about 12.5% of the total population for both cities. When looking at the top cities by percentage of total millennials compared to the total population, Jersey City, New Jersey, ranked first at 41.5%, followed by Seattle, Denver, and Austin. However, Port St. Lucie in Florida had the lowest rate of millennials moving in compared to the total population at 4.8%, followed by Brockton, Massachusetts.

DETROIT (AP) — Pressure in rising on General Motors as the lone holdout in a strike targeting all three big Detroit automakers after a tentative contract agreement with Jeep maker Stellantis was reached with the United Auto Workers union over the weekend. The Ford agreement revives cost-of-living adjustments that the UAW agreed to suspend in 2009 during the Great Recession. At Stellantis, workers get cost-of-living pay that would bring raises to a compounded 33%, with top assembly plant workers making more than $42 per hour. Overnight, 8,200 Stellantis workers in Canada represented by a different union, Unifor, walked off the job. At the peak, about 46,000 UAW workers were on strike — about one-third of the union’s 146,000 members at all three companies.

About 14,000 UAW workers had been on strike at two Stellantis assembly plants in Michigan and Ohio, and several parts distribution centers across the country. The projects will cost nearly $298 million and are designed to protect some of the region's most vulnerable communities. Both projects were formulated by the group Rebuild By Design, which was initiated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2013, and New Jersey environmental officials. It calls for building 9,000 linear feet (about 1.7 miles or 2.7 kilometers) of flood walls, installation of flood gates and construction of berms and levees. They include planting more grass, trees and vegetation in urban areas to absorb rainfall and allow less runoff to flood streets and storm sewers. REUTERS/Amr Alfiky Acquire Licensing RightsLONDON, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Credit rating agency Moody's raised its 2023 U.S. economic growth forecast on Friday but cut its estimate next year for China, saying that while the risk of a recession had fallen in the United States, China's challenges were mounting. "We have raised our growth forecast for the United States' economy to 1.9% in 2023 from 1.1% in our May outlook, acknowledging the strong underlying economic momentum," Moody's said in a report. The firm, now the only big three agency to have a top notch triple A rating for the U.S. following Fitch's downgrade last month, kept its 2024 growth forecast at 1%, saying that high interest rates would act as a brake on the economy. Moody's kept its growth projection for this year at 5% but cut its 2024 forecast to 4.0% from 4.5% previously. "We believe that low consumer confidence is holding back household spending, and economic and policy uncertainty will continue to weigh on business decisions".

Despite losses of nearly 2,700 high earners, New Jersey netted over 1,000 wealthy, young professionals. Connecticut, which ranked sixth for net migration of young high earners, had a similar trend compared with all high earners. Washington, DC, exceeded Washington state at 16%, even though it lost nearly 700 young, wealthy professionals.

Manhattan's borough president has identified about 200 sites where he says the city could build housing. We have to fix this," Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine said in a tweet. The city approved 2,525 new units citywide and 1,208 in Manhattan in July 2013. A big portion of the opposition to the legislation came from suburban areas around New York City that didn't want to see more density in their communities.
